An Attempt To Freedom - Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Royal Exit

deandragt30

Meghan Markle officially joined the royal family when she walked down the aisle towards her charming groom, Prince Harry. Everything was great until the beginning of January, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced something that left everyone speechless. The couple formally opted to renounce their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex and retire from the royal family.

Their decision sparked one of the most significant scandals in recent memory. Without hesitation, the public and media leaped on the couple with remarks, criticism, and questions. The lives of royal families are frequently portrayed in stories as dazzling and fairytale-like. Markle, however, did not appear to agree. She and her husband, Prince Harry, were continuously and inevitably living their lives in the spotlight.

Overwhelmed by the attention, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided it was time for them to resign from the throne.

Understanding the ‘Megxit’

Because he was born into the royal family, Prince Harry had spent a significant portion of his life entrenched in royalty. It was obvious that he was entitled to a lot of media attention and public awareness. Nevertheless, Harry did not appear to enjoy the attention. According to the Insider, Harry associated the camera flashes and media attention to the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, whom he lost as a child.

Following their fairytale wedding, Harry began to observe that the royal lifestyle was causing a severe strain on Markle's health and happiness. Harry admitted to having been in therapy for numerous years to deal with the trauma he experienced being part of the royal family and of losing his mother. He didn't want his son, Archie, who was born months before the couple retired from the royal family, to face a similar fate.

As a newlywed and a new mother, Markle stated that the couple did not want to raise their child in the presence of photographers and the media. They kept the location of their son's birth, godparents' identities, and christening ceremonies confidential. Unlike earlier royal newborns, they did not bestow a royal title to their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and assured the press that he would not grow up in the royal family.

Drafting their future

Before joining the Royal Family, Meghan Markle was a charming television actress and inspirational speaker. She worked tirelessly with the United Nations, World Vision, and other such organizations to raise gender awareness in a multitude of underdeveloped countries. But becoming a member of the royal family meant giving up a career she had worked so hard to establish.

As a result, the couple desired to gain independence and to develop their own brand somewhere else. Several publications claim that Harry and Meghan hinted at their retirement from the media royal family through documentaries and interviews. Their dissatisfaction, however, caused a furious dispute between Prince Harry and Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen agreed to a transition period during which the Duke and Duchess will spend time in the UK and Canada after deleting their titles from their social media identities and websites. Although the Queen reiterated her desire for Harry and Meghan to remain full-time royals, she emphasised her complete support for their decision.

In April 2020, the couple finally wave farewell to the royal family. They now live in Los Angeles, California, and have finally found their 'happily ever after.'
